F. Taucher et al., SPECTRAL SIMPLIFICATION BY ENCLOSIVE FLOW COOLING .2. DIODE-LASER SPECTROSCOPY OF COMPLEX-MOLECULES, Journal of molecular structure, 348, 1995, pp. 243-247
Molecules with more than four atoms generally exhibit relatively compl
ex vibration-rotation spectra at standard conditions. Often their sing
le lines are not resolved and difficult to detect and investigate by h
igh-resolution absorption spectroscopy. In this work, diode-laser spec
troscopic experiments are presented which use the enclosive flow cooli
ng technique for simplification of gas spectra. The fundamental spectr
al cooling effects on trifluoromethane are compared with theoretical e
xpectations. A considerable reduction of line number density and high
optical absorption efficiency were found. Enclosive flow cooling prove
d to be robust and easy to manage.
