Abstract
Double bond isomerization of allyl cyanide to crotononitrile over a ba sic zeolite catalyst was monitored by IR and UV-VIS spectroscopy in or der to get information on the surface intermediates involved. Due to t he spectral changes the occurence of a carbanionic intermediate seems to be highly probable characterized by an absorption at 400 nm.
