M. Sekkal et al., INVESTIGATION OF THE GLYCOSIDIC LINKAGES IN SEVERAL OLIGOSACCHARIDES USING FT-IR AND FT RAMAN SPECTROSCOPIES, Journal of molecular structure, 349, 1995, pp. 349-352
FT-IR and FT Raman spectra of eight oligosaccharides have been recorde
d in the crystalline state. The FT-Raman measurements have been done i
n the 1500-100 cm(-1) range and the FT-IR ones between 1500 and 600 cm
(-1). Five of these oligosaccharides are oligomers of amylose and four
are oligomers of cellulose. The two series present the same monosacch
aride composition which is glucose the difference between them being t
hat maltose (the disaccharide analog of amylose) and cellobiose (the d
isaccharide analog of cellulose) present the different configurations
of the glycosidic linkages, alpha 1-4 and beta 1-4 respectively. Featu
res were revealed that appear to be characteristic of details of the s
tereochemistry and bands associated with the glycosidic linkages were
studied.
