Abstract
Dinocap is the generic name for a mixture of 2,6-dinitro-4-(1-methylhe ptyl)phenylcrotonate, 2,4-dinitro-6-(1 -methylheptyl)phenylcrotonate a nd some other alkyl substituted isomers [1]. The mixture is applied as a non-specific acaricide and contact fungicide, recommended for the c ontrol of all kinds of mildew on fruit, vegetables, potatoes, tobacco and seeds and is used all over the world. Studies were carried out int o the identification of this pesticide and its by-products using infra red spectroscopy and mass spectrometry following chromatographic separ ation.
