Lead berate and lead alumino berate glasses in the systems xPbO(.)(100
-x)B2O3 (0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 75 mol%) and
xPbO(95-x)B2O3,5Al(2)O(3) (0 less than or equal to x less than or equa
l to 80 mol%), respectively, have been prepared and investigated by Ra
man spectroscopy. Using the Martin-Brenig model, structural correlatio
n lengths were determinated from Boson peak positions of temperature r
educed Raman spectra and transversal sound velocities. Vv polarized sp
ectra contain information about the nature of the PbO component within
the network.
