Abstract
The recent clinical studies describing the treatment of some neurologi cal disorders with an externally applied pico Tesla (10(-12) Tesla, or 10(-8) gauss) magnetic field are considered from a physical view poin t. An equation relating the intrinsic (or rest) energy of a charged pa rticle of mass m with its energy of interaction in an externally appli ed magnetic field B is presented. The equation represents an initial b asic physical interaction as a part of a more complex biological mecha nism to explain the therapeutic effects of externally applied magnetic fields in these and other neurologic disorders.
