Abstract
Comparison of stress-strain and fatigue characteristics of single crys tals and polycrystals of copper and Cu-Zn alloy shows the reasonable m utual conversion of S/N curves on the basis of Taylor conversion facto r. The conversion of cyclic stress-strain curves is possible in the fi rst approximation only. Coffin-Manson curves cannot be mutually conver ted at all. The explanation of this statement is based on the differen t volume fraction of zones exhibiting higher cyclic slip activity in s ingle crystals and polycrystals.
