Magnetoresistance (Delta rho/rho) measurements on a Ce(Fe0.96Al0.04)(2
) compound in the temperature range 4.2-250 K and in magnetic fields u
p to 45 kOe are reported. The present study clearly suggests that in z
ero held, the low temperature state is an antiferromagnetic one, under
going a metamagnetic transition to a ferromagnetic one in the temperat
ure range 4.2-50 K at a characteristic field, (H-m) which decreases wi
th increasing temperature.
