Vl. Towle et al., DISPLAYING ELECTROCORTICOGRAPHIC FINDINGS ON GYRAL ANATOMY, Electroencephalography and clinical neurophysiology, 94(4), 1995, pp. 221-228
Human electrocorticographic findings recorded from subdural arrays of
electrodes were topographically mapped directly onto magnetic resonanc
e images of gyral anatomy. With this technique gyri involved in genera
ting somatosensory evoked potentials and epileptic phenomena are easil
y identified. Regions of the cortex which exhibit local spectral chang
es associated with cognitive tasks can also be visualized. These compo
site images of structure and function can provide insight regarding th
e functional organization of human cortex in relation to gyral anatomy
and localized pathologic rhythms.
