Marine bivalves collected from various marine soft-bottom habitats (Su
ngei Buloh, Kallang Basin, Singapore River, Pulau Tekong, West Johore
Straits and Pulau Semakau) in Singapore waters were studied from 1987
to 1993. A total of 26 families, 47 genera and 75 species were recorde
d. The genus Bucardium Gray, 1853 has not previously been reported fro
m Singapore. The most commonly occurring bivalve was Mytilopsis sallei
Recluz 1852. The overall distribution is non-uniform.
