An apparatus is used with a thin walled stainless steel cell and a fou
r-pole potentiometric arrangement to perform precise measurements of t
he electric conductivity sigma of liquid cesium to high temperatures a
t equilibrium vapour pressure. Results are given from 200 to 800 degre
es C. A five-parameter equation for use from the melting temperature o
f 28.4 degrees C to 1200 degrees C is presented. Conductivity values o
f 17705 and 6435 ohm(-1) cm(-1) were obtained for 200 and 800 degrees
C, respectively. The relative expected error is given in dependence of
temperature. A typical value is +/- 0.34%. All data are well within t
he range of validity of the near-free-electron, NFE, model for metalli
c conductance.
