Abstract
Methyl and ethyl-[(substituted phenylthio)methyl]-3-nitrobenzoates and the corresponding non-nitro derivatives have been synthesized and the ir structures proven. The action of 5% sodium hydroxide solution on th ese esters gave the corresponding diaryl disulfides besides 3-nitro-4- methylbenzoic acid or 4-methylbenzoic acid.
