Abstract
The syntheses of some p-substituted isopropyl alpha-methylthiobenzylsu lfones and their reaction with CCl4-KOH-t-BuOH to give the correspondi ng vinyl sulfides, as well as their oxidation to the corresponding sul foxides, are described. Some aspects of the reactivity of the alpha-su lfenyl, alpha-sulfonyl benzylic carbanions are discussed.
