Abstract
A series of naphtho[2,3-d]thiazole-4,9-diones (IV) have been prepared by the condensation of bromo-lawsone (II) with thiosemicarbazones deri ved from aldehydes and ketones in dry DMF. The products (V) are also o btained by the cyclization of the intermediate 2-chlorobenzaldehyde th iosemicarbazone of 1,4-naphthoquinone (IV) in ethanol containing KHCO3 obtained from 2, 3-dichloronaphthoquinone.
