Hg. Lee et al., PREPARATION OF A MELT-PROCESSED LA123 BULK SUPERCONDUCTOR WITH FINELYDISPERSED Y211 PARTICLE, Physica. C, Superconductivity, 246(1-2), 1995, pp. 73-77
A high-magnetization La123 specimen with finely dispersed second-phase
particles was successfully fabricated by a melt process under a reduc
ed oxygen partial pressure. The dispersion of the fine second-phase pa
rticle was obtained by adding Y211 particles to the La123 specimen. Th
e melt-down and the crack propagation were effectively suppressed in a
melt-processed specimen with Y211 addition, The magnetization of the
La123 specimen was clearly enhanced with Y211 addition. It is consider
ed that the Y211 addition introduced extra flux-pinning centers in the
La123 specimen.
