The occurrence and characteristics of Ca2+ and anion-sensitive ATPase
activities were studied in a plasma membrane fraction (PMF) isolated f
rom crab Cyrtograpsus angulatus gills, An ATPase activity, stimulated
by Ca2+ and sensitive to vanadate, is present in PMP. The highest acti
vity was found at 8 mM Ca2+. The optimal pH was 9.00, PMF also contain
ed an ATPase activity stimulated by either Cl- or HCO3- or Cl- plus HC
O3- which was Mg2+-dependent.
