R. West et al., CHEMICAL-SHIFT TENSORS AND CHEMICAL BONDING IN CYCLIC SILANES, Phosphorus, sulfur and silicon and the related elements, 93(1-4), 1994, pp. 213-216
Solid-state Si-29 NMR has been used to determine the principal values
of the shielding tensors for organosilicon compounds, including cyclic
silanes. Silicon atoms in three-membered rings show exceptionally lar
ge chemical shift anisotropies, similar to those of multiply-bonded Si
atoms. Possible reasons for these large CSA's are discussed.
