Abstract
Observations made during the synthesis of the anticancer agent homohar ringtonine 37 have resulted in the development of several new syntheti c methods based upon the alkylation and conjugate-addition chemistry o f gamma-methoxy allylsulfonyl anions. Enones, dienyl ketones, and trie nyl ketones are readily constructed. Sultinium ion intermediates facil itate the sulfone to olefin transformation.
