Abstract
alpha,alpha'-Dioxothiones obtained from beta-ketoesters undergo invers e electron demand Diels-Alder reaction with electron rich alkenes bein g only the ketonic carbonyl group selectively involved in the cycloadd ition. A variety of 1,4-oxathiine derivatives have been prepared follo wing this new type of cycloaddition reaction.
