Abstract
Dramatic changes in pathology services in Australia over the past few decades have radically altered the way the discipline is practised. Al though these developments are not unique to Australia, the recent pace of change in this country has been particularly rapid. It is time to reflect on the course of events, examine the issues and (possibly) pre dict the future.
