NONLINEAR NONLOCAL THEORY OF GRAVITY

Deser and Laurent (1968) explored an alternative linear theory for spi n-two field using a nonlocal divergence-free projection operator on th e matter energy-momentum tenser. Here, we extend this theory by includ ing nonlinearity of the gravitational field. We show that such extende d model satisfy the four standard tests of weak gravity. The consequen ces for strong gravitational fields are under examination.
