The new complexes [MO(2)L(2)](2-) (H(2)L = 2,3- or 3,4-dihydroxybenzoi
c acid. 2,3-H(2)dhb or 3,4-H(2)dhb, M = Mo, W or Os; H(2)L = 2.6-dihyd
roxybenzoic acid, 2,6-H(2)dhb, M = Mo), [OsO2(py)(2)(2,6-dhb)] (Py = P
yridine), [ReO\(PPh(3))(2)L] (H(2)L = 2,3-, 3,4- or 2,6-H(2)dhb) and [
M(PPh(3))(2)(2,3-dhb)] (M = Pd or Pt) have been prepared. The crystal
structure of [NMe(4)](2)[MoO2(2,3-dhb)(2)]. 1.5H(2)O has been determin
ed and exhibits catecholato rather than salicylato type bonding. Infra
red. Raman,H-1 and C-13- (H-1) NM R spectroscopic data for the complex
es are also presented.
