Abstract
We investigate the effect of nonlinearity of the voltage current plasm a characteristic on the damping rate of shear and compressional Alfven waves in current-carrying plasmas. It is shown that the shear Alfven wave experiences much stronger turbulent damping than compressional wa ve due to its effect on the level of ion acoustic turbulence excited b y an external current.
