C. Mirodatos et al., CO HYDROGENATION OVER NI-BASED AND CO-BASED CATALYSTS - INFLUENCE OF ALKALI ADDITION ON MORPHOLOGICAL AND CATALYTIC PROPERTIES, Topics in catalysis, 2(1-4), 1995, pp. 183-192
CO hydrogenation over sodium-promoted nickel and cobalt catalysts was
studied to better understand the specific effects of the alkali modifi
er. The main catalytic effects were assigned to the weakening of the h
ydrogenating ability of the metals, resulting from their transformatio
n into bulk carbide phases. The easy CO dissociation resulting from a
direct interaction with the alkali ions is proposed to explain the met
al phase transformation.
