T. Watanabe, CONSTRUCTING THE MODEL OF VIEW OF VALUE - FOCUSING ON THE RELATIONS BETWEEN KNOWLEDGE ACTIVATION AND EMOTION, Library and Information Science, (32), 1994, pp. 141-162
This thesis describes a model on the prosess of formation of value jud
gement, which has been constracted by arguing about 1) knowledge and/o
r information, 2) emotion, in relation to 'view of value' that is prod
uced from the process of human mental activity. As a result, the view
of value araises as follows: (a) Knowledge which is relevant to the vi
ew of value is selected from a group of knowledge previously activated
by an action of interest. (b) The selected knowledge is further chose
n, rejected, or modified, by an 'analogy' with the newly acquired info
rmation and/or knowledge, and (c) finally with the existing criterion
for value judgement. The criterion is thus renewed through this set of
the mental process, and a new view of value grows.
