E. Shlyakhov et al., VACCINES AGAINST ANTHRAX IN ANIMALS, FROM PASTEUR,LOUIS TO DATE, Revue scientifique et technique - Office international des epizooties, 15(3), 1996, pp. 853-862
The authors outline the history of vaccination against anthrax in anim
als, from the end of the 19th century to the present time. The three m
ain steps in the production of specific vaccines are described in deta
il: production of vaccines from live, encapsulated bacteria, followed
by vaccines from live, unencapsulated bacteria and, finally, subunit v
accines. Advantages and disadvantages of these three types of vaccine,
some of which are still in use today, are described and discussed.
