Abstract
The magnetisation of the mixed-valence system Hg1-xFexSe has been meas ured in magnetic fields up to 20 T. Superimposed on the monotonic back ground of the iron moments we observe a strong oscillatory contributio n of the same order of magnitude which can be related to the de Haas-v an Alphen effect of the free electrons.
