Abstract
The energy of the magneto-roton minimum has been measured by non-equil ibrium phonon absorption in high mobility electron and hole gases. In the electron gas the measured energy gap is in good agreement with the oretical values. In the hole gas the values are lower than a simple th eory would suggest. The most likely cause is Landau level mixing.
