Ak. May et al., ANTERIOR LUNG HERNIATION - ANOTHER ASPECT OF THE SEAT-BELT SYNDROME, The journal of trauma, injury, infection, and critical care, 38(4), 1995, pp. 587-589
Shoulder harnesses can be a source of thoracic injury in motor vehicle
crashes. Sternal and rib fractures are most commonly reported. We pre
sent a case of a traumatic anterior lung herniation secondary to shoul
der harness trauma in a motor vehicle crash victim with multiple injur
ies. A brief review of lung hernias is provided as well as a brief dis
cussion of the thoracic manifestations of the seatbelt syndrome.
