Abstract
The paper by Towler((1)) described the design, construction and testin g of a pumping installation which incorporated a triple-expansion Corn ish steam engine with an integral three-ram positive-displacement pump . This paper contrasts and discusses the developments, with pumping ma chinery, which have taken place during the last 100 years.
