Temperature dependence of structure and properties of poly-N-alkyl-sub
stituted acrylamides and their aqueous solutions has been studied by I
R-Fourier spectroscopy technique. For poly-N-alkyl-substituted acrylam
ides showing lower critical solution temperature, a specific H-bonded
ring structure involving alkyl amide units of a polymer and hydroxyl f
unctions of water was discovered. A new approach to the targeted trans
port of physiologically active compounds was proposed. The approach in
volves the immobilization of these compounds on activated poly-N-alkyl
-substituted acrylamides and heating the delivery site above critical
temperature.
