Abstract
A computationally efficient formulation of the solution for the electr ic potential and field due to an axisymmetric accelerator gap is deriv ed. The potential solution is obtained from an accurate integration of the Green function integral solution of Laplace's equation. This resu lt provides information about the focusing properties of a gap, and ca n be used to obtain forces needed in particle transport codes.
