R. Koppensteiner et al., DEMONSTRATION OF CYSTIC ADVENTITIAL DISEASE BY INTRAVASCULAR ULTRASOUND IMAGING, Journal of vascular surgery, 23(3), 1996, pp. 534-536
In a 34-year-old woman with intermittent calf claudication, cystic adv
entitial disease of the popliteal artery was demonstrated by intravasc
ular ultrasound imaging. Multiple intramural cystic masses were seen t
o be compressing the arterial lumen. The diagnosis of cystic adventiti
al disease was confirmed by surgery. Intravascular ultrasound imaging
reliably identifies cystic adventitial disease; its application can be
recommended as an alternative to established diagnostic procedures (c
omputed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging) in patients undergoing
angiography.
