Abstract
We demonstrate a novel approach to phase insensitive, all-optical stee ring and switching based on an intensity-induced change in the propaga tion direction of multidimensional spatial solitary waves in bulk, bir efringent, quadratic nonlinear media. Our demonstration is based on se cond-harmonic generation in a KTP crystal. Compensation for the latera l displacements due to walkoff in SHG is observed. (C) 1996 American I nstitute of Physics.
