Congenital inguinal hernias, relatively common among infants, have rar
ely been reported in utero. In this brief report, the prenatal diagnos
is of this condition based on movement of the intestinal content withi
n the ileal loops is described. The differential diagnosis with other
masses protruding from the abdominal wall (omphalocele) or the perinea
l region (sacrococcygeal teratoma, hydrocele) is discussed.
