Abstract
The flow-vacuum pyrolyses of dibenzo(C6H10)hydrocarbons 7, 8, and 9 we re studied at 1 Torr and in the temperature range between 400 and 800 degrees C. Hydrocarbon 7 cleanly rearranges to 8 between 450 and 600 d egrees C. Above 600 degrees C, hydrocarbon 8 is converted into 9 and a nthracene. Hydrocarbon 9 is thermally stable up to 800 degrees C. The reaction mechanisms are discussed.
