DISTANCE LEARNING AND DISTANCE EDUCATION - A PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE

During 50 years of service, the Centers for Disease Control and Preven tion has made important contributions to U.S. public health, particula rly in the area of training, an essential CDC activity. I summarize so me of CDC's experiences with distance learning and distance education, describe the need for public health education and training, and consi der how distance education can fill that need.
