Abstract
In order to study conditions of elaboration of single crystal fibers o f MgO-doped lithium niobate LiNbO3 by the Laser Heated Pedestal Growth method, the crystallization field of the corresponding ternary solid solution is determined by investigating suitable parts of vertical sec tions of the ternary system Li2O-Nb2O5-MgO, using X-ray diffraction, t hermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses. From the results o btained, it is shown that less than 6 mol % MgO can be incorporated in to LiNbO3 crystals.
