Pk. Presson et Va. Benassi, LOCUS OF CONTROL ORIENTATION AND DEPRESSIVE SYMPTOMATOLOGY - A METAANALYSIS, Journal of social behavior and personality, 11(1), 1996, pp. 201-212
Meta-analytic techniques were used to review studies of the relation b
etween Levenson's locus of control scales and depressive symptomatolog
y. Whereas other reviewers have used only zero-order correlations as e
stimates of effect size, the present review included semipartial corre
lations. After partialling out the shared variance of the chance and p
owerful others scales, higher beliefs in a lack of internality were as
sociated with higher levels of depressive symptomatology. A Iso, highe
r scores on the chance and powerful others scales were uniquely associ
ated with higher scores on measures of depressive symptomatology.
