Abstract
Ionic coupling of the mononuclear cation [Ru(eta(5)-C5H5)-(MeCN)(3)]() with the cluster dianion [Os-5(CO)(15)](2-) afforded the neutral hep tanuclear cluster [Os5Ru2(CO)(15)(eta(5)-C5H5)(2)] which has been show n by X-ray diffraction studies to contain a tricapped tetrahedral meta l core.
