M. Saidy, A UNIFIED APPROACH TO VOLTAGE REGULATOR AND POWER-SYSTEM STABILIZER DESIGN BASED ON PREDICTIVE CONTROL IN ANALOG FORM, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENERGY SYSTEMS, 19(2), 1997, pp. 103-109
A unified approach for voltage regulator and power system stabiliser d
esign based on predictive control in the s domain is presented in this
paper. The proposed controller employs the current and voltage compon
ents along the d and q axis, I-d, I-q, V-d, as additional control sign
als. The aim is to solve the conflicting demands of the control requir
ements of generator terminal voltage regulation and damping of electri
cal power oscillations. In the time domain, the results obtained have
shown that the analogue predictive controller with fixed structure and
parameter provides, unlike the conventional excitation control scheme
(voltage regulator and power system stabiliser), a good consistent pe
formance for cases of strong, as well as weak, tie line connection of
the generator with the grid system. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Scienc
