Abstract
Sorbus pekarovae MAJOVSKY et BERNATOVA, a new hybridogeneous species o f the genus Sorbus L. with coriaceous lobed leaves, is described. Appa rently, it is an outcome of hybridization between Sorbus aucuparia and a species from the aggregate species Sorbus graeca (Sorbus danubialis ) now missing at the site. Occurrence of Sorbus pekarovae is confined to summit cliffs and adjacent summit habitats of Mt. Pekarova above th e Gaderska Dolina Valley in the Velka Fatra Mts.
