T. Baranec et al., GENERATIVE REPRODUCTION OF SOME ENDANGERED WOODY SPECIES FROM FAMILIES ERICACEAE JUSS AND VACCINIACEAE GRAY,S.F. IN SLOVAKIA, BIOLOGIA, 51(1), 1996, pp. 31-35
The generative reproduction in some peat bogs shrubs species (Andromed
a polifolia L., Ledum palustre L., Vaccinium uliginosum L., Oxycoccus
palustris PERS., O. microcarpus TURCZ. ex RUPR.) from families Vaccini
aceae and Ericaceae were studied. Besides the main vegetative reproduc
tion of these species on natural stands (localities in Orava region an
d Tatra mountains) they are able to the generative reproduction, too.
However, only lowered number of ovules continue in the development to
the fertile seed with normally developed embryos. In 1994 it was 27,5%
in Andromeda polifolia, 82,5% in Ledum palustre, 57,5% in Vaccinium u
liginosum, 45% in Oxycoccus palustris and none in Oxycoccus microcarpu
s. The analysis of this phenomenon demands a more profound study. Some
cytological charakteristics of anthers, ovules, embryo sacc, endosper
m and embryo development were pecised.
