Palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes containing bidentate hybrid l
igands, RECH(2)CH(2)NMe(2) (E = S or Se), have been synthesized and ch
aracterized by elemental analysis, IR and H-1 NMR data; the X-ray crys
tal structure of [PtCl2(PhSeCH(2)CH(2)NMe(2))]. H2O shows that the com
plex has a square planar geometry with the ligand, PhSeCH(2)CH(2)NMe(2
), being coordinated in a chelating fashion.
