Abstract
A field experiment conducted for 2 years with transplanted rice (Oryza sativa L.) in clay-loam soil showed that 15 July planting gave higher yield as compared with 30 June and 30 July transplantings. Irrigation schedule had no significant effect on grain yield and yield attribute s. Significant reduction in yield was not observed even up to 7-day dr ying period after disappearance of 7 cm ponded water when compared wit h 1-day drying period. However, there was a saving of 45% irrigation w ater compared 1-day drying of ponded water. However, higher water-expe nse efficiency was achieved with 1-day or 5-day drying period.
