Sn. Choudhury et Ac. Ghosh, EFFECT OF CLIPPING HEIGHT ON HERB AND OIL CONTENT OF JAVA-CITRONELLA (CYMBOPOGON WINTERIANUS), Indian Journal of Agronomy, 40(3), 1995, pp. 486-490
An experiment was conducted during 1989-92 to determine the optimum cl
ipping height of Java citronella (Cymbapogon winterianus Jowitt). Plan
ts clipped at 30 cm height showed significant increase in dry herbage
and essential oil. However, further increase (40 cm) or decrease (5 cm
) in the height reduced the yield of the 2 parameters. Leaf-area index
was maximum at 30 cm clipping height, whereas oil content of herbage
and dry weight and carbohydrate of roots were greater at higher height
s used for clipping.
