Abstract
Single crystals of Cd1.35Cu1.65(PO4)(2) have been prepared by solid st ate reactions below the melting point of the starting compounds. The l ight green crystals crystallize with monoclinic symmetry, space group C-2h(5)-P2(1)/c, a = 9.062(2), b = 11.669(2), c = 5.950(2) Angstrom, b eta = 97.88(2)degrees, Z = 4. Cd1.35Cu1.65(PO4)(2) shows relationship to the mineral graftonite. The crystal structure is characterized by n ets of corner connected Cd2O12 polyhedra. One point position is statis tically occupied by Cd2+ and CU2+ ions.
