S. Somuncu et al., PELVIC GANGLIONEUROBLASTOMA TOTALLY EXCISED USING POSTERIOR SAGITTAL AND ABDOMINAL APPROACH, Pediatric surgery international, 11(2-3), 1996, pp. 208-209
Neuroblastoma usually presents as an upper abdominal mass arising from
the adrenal gland. Recent experience with neuroblastoma of the sperma
tic cord, bladder, and pelvis demonstrates the propensity of this tumo
r to arise in unusual areas, A 1-year-old boy was admitted with pollak
iuria, acute urinary retention, and chronic constipation. Computed tom
ographic and ultrasonographic examinations revealed a 5x5.5x4-cm pelvi
c mass, which was totally excised using a posterior sagittal and abdom
inal approach, The pathologic diagnosis was ganglioneuroblastoma and 1
-year follow-up was uneventful.
