Abstract
The pulsed laser photolysis - laser induced fluorescence (PLP-LIF) met hod has been used to measure the rate constants for the reactions of O H with 1-bromopropane (CH3CH2CH2Br), k(1), and 2-bromopropane (CH3CHBr CH3), k(2). The results obtained in the temperature range (233-372) K are: k(1) = (5.29 +/- 0.29) x 10(-12) exp[-(456 +/- 31)/T] cm(3) molec ule(-1) s(-1)k(2) = (3.58 +/- 0.47) x 10(-12) exp[-(392 +/- 75)IT] cm( 3) molecule(-1) s(-1)This is the first determination of the temperatur e dependence of these two rate constants. At 298 K, the measured rate constants were: k(1)(298K) = (1.17 +/- 0.12) x 10(-12) cm(3) molecule( -1) s(-1) k(2)(298K) = (0.94 +/- 0.11) x 10(-12) cm(3) molecule(-1) s( -1) which are in very good agreement with the only other determination reported so far.
