Abstract
Prostate cancer is now the second most common cause of male cancer-rel ated deaths in the USA. This article reviews the factors that account for the recent rapid increase in incidence. It also discusses the diff erent management options currently available, with an emphasis on earl y prostate cancer and the role of radical prostatectomy.
